Orient Beach (Baie Orientale)
Orient Bay Beach (Baie Orientale) is situated on the northeast coast of the Caribbean island of St Martin Island and is known for its powdery white sand and sparkling clear-blue waters. Stretching for around a mile and a half the beach is cooled by the trade winds from the Atlantic Ocean. A day at Orient Bay is an absolute must while on the island as it is widely regarded as the best beach.
Occasionally referred to as the “Saint-Tropez of the Caribbean”, the beach is popular with watersports enthusiasts who come to take advantage of the kitesurfing and other water-based activities such as snorkeling.
There is no shortage of beach bars and restaurants along the length of Orient Bay beach. This is a great place to eat out day or night with plenty of top-notch French inspired cuisine on offer.
Despite being the most popular beach on St Martin the far south-western end is a little quieter. Backed by the ruins of an old hotel which has largely been reclaimed by nature, this section of beach is frequented by naturists.
