Cala de las Playas (Playa de los Pobres)
Cala de las Playas is a lesser known beach on the wild south coast of Fuerteventura. Known for its stretch of dark volcanic sands, rugged cliffs, and powerful Atlantic waves, this spot offers a peaceful escape from the island’s busier beaches, whilst still having plenty of amenities and places to stay.
Due to its strong currents and rough waters, swimming can be dangerous, but it’s an excellent place to enjoy the dramatic coastal scenery, sunbathe, or take a relaxing walk along the shore. However, this isn’t why many visitors are here. In fact Cala de las Playas is one of the top triathlon training locations in Europe.
The beach here is surprisingly quiet considering the village does have a resort look to it. Which makes it even better for just relaxing and soaking up some winter sun.
