Praia das Rodas is probably the best known of the beaches on the Cíes Islands. This little group of islands lie just off the coast of Galicia in northwestern Spain.

Often regarded as one of Spain’s best beaches,  Praia das Rodas features a curving stretch of soft white sand. To one side are the clear turquoise waters of the Atlantic, and behind, a natural lagoon. The beach connects two of the main islands, Illa Monteagudo and Illa Faro. The waters are usually calm, though they can be quite cold due to Atlantic currents.

The Cíes Islands are a protected area, so access is limited to a certain number of visitors per day, especially in summer. No hotels or permanent buildings are allowed here, but there is a seasonal campsite. The islands are popular for hiking, birdwatching, and enjoying unspoiled, beautiful nature.
