Cala de Timijiraque
Cala de Timijiraque is a quiet little cove on the eastern coast of El Hierro, the smallest of Spain’s Canary Islands. This volcanic black-sand beach is surrounded by imposing cliffs giving something of a secluded feel, perfect for those looking to escape the crowd.
The beach is popular among locals, surfers, and those looking for a wilder side of the island. The powerful Atlantic waves make it a great spot for experienced surfers, while calmer days allow for swimming and relaxing by the shore. The rugged landscape and crystal-clear waters also make it an excellent location for snorkeling and discovering some of the island’s marine life.
Easily accessible by road, Bahía de Timijiraque is just a short drive from Puerto de la Estaca and the island’s capital, Valverde. However, amenities are limited, so visitors should bring their own supplies.
